Many of you have probably heard me talking about a young girl named Colleen Hickey--a 19 year old kayaker from a small town in Illinois who dreamed of making it to the Olympics in her kayak. Well, the near impossible dream is on the brink of reality. Her father, Mike, keeps us in the loop about Colleen's progress and recently sent this letter of thanks to all of her former and current coaches, as well as a link to a recent story published in a local paper in Illinois. take a minute to read the article; it's certainly an inspiration and a testament to Colleen's hard work and her family's support. It, too, serves as an example of how a dream, determination and hardwork, can all lead to one' s own success.

"Coaches,
Check out the link. Thanks to all of you. Each of you were instrumental in
Colleen reaching a specific goal in her career. Eric taught her to roll.
Davey gave her the dream. Chris M. taught her how to use the water. Tom
taught her to run gates. Kara instructed her in her first race clinic. Coach
Kurtz gave her a team. Davey constantly took her to her best. Ben taught her
to have fun. Chris W. gave her back the dream she had lost. Joel took her to
the next level. Now, Cathy will take her as far as her dreams and ability
allow. I thank all of you for without you, this would not have happened.
Colleen's Dad"
