OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CLUB, LLC (OAC)
Where adventure and faith go hand in hand

Well, it looks like this will be the new home for the OAC's website. Since we are not affiliated with our school, the right thing to do was to move the site away from the school's website. This page is a work in progress, but soon you will find many resources for information about the club, upcoming and previous trips, calendar, pictures and general sources related to the activities in which we partake.

June 1st, 2008--Blackleaf Canyon Climbing Trip

What better way to kick off June than a climbing trip to Blackleaf
Canyon. Located  along the Rocky Mountain front, 20 miles west
of Bynum, Black Leaf offers a great destination for both hiking and
climbing, and is home to a large population of Grizzly and Black
bear. Despite an overcast day, 18 of us ventured into the outer
fringes of the Bob Marshall to try our luck at the layers of chert
that offer an array of 5.6 to 5.12 climbs.

The trip in was not boring as swollen, roadside ditches spilled
plenty of snowmelt onto the gravel road. In fact 1.5 miles prior
to the trailhead the road was closed due to high water, but that
didn't stop us from reaching our destination.

Once at the base we set up three ropes that offered the climbers a few choices--a nice intro climb about 50 ft. long, a climb about as high, but more technical, and then the third climb which topped out over a 100ft. up the south rock face. Despite on and off again sprinkles and sunshine each climber got in between two and four climbs and did an excellent job. Of course to make things even more interesting some of us did a small side hike that included a bit of creek side bouldering and creating a makeshift log bridge to  traverse the rushing water of the creek.
